Coiled - A Native American coiled basket is a type of basketry created by sewing together in a spiral pattern flexible materials that often includes grasses, pine needles, yucca, raffia, sweetgrass, willow, or other plant fibers. This technique is one of the oldest and most widely used methods for creating baskets by various Indigenous cultures across North America. Coiled baskets have been used for a variety of purposes, including food gathering, storage, cooking (some were made tightly enough to hold liquids), and ceremonial practices.
